Photos from 2009 "Round House Calendar"
In the past I have made calendars using photos from NASA's Earth Observatory
site. This year, I decided to showcase photos taken around our new house.
With the exception of the cover, all these photos were taken from our
deck.
The
calendar is dedicated to our BBD (basic black dog), Gellie, who died in
early July. She was completely "Sue's dog" -- a border collie
mix that we thought was mostly labrador retriever when we got her as a
puppy in 1994. A real contrast to the ultimate in mellow "Marty-Dog"
(1980 - 1994).
The location is the southern boundary of our land where it borders the
national forest.
January

February
Ice storm on Waits Mountain, Feburary 2007.
March
Controlled burn on Fore Mountain, March 2008.
Night view after the burn. Left side shows original photo. Right side
shows enhancement in Photoshop.I'm amazed at the detail that is in the
photo. The smoke shows clearly, as does our propane tank and shed.
April
Serviceberries in bloom on a typically foggy morning, April 2008.
May
Low clouds over North Mountain, May 2008. The "notch" is Rainbow
Gap between Clifton Forge and Iron Gate.
June
Cedar waxwings, June 2007.
July
Full moon rising over North Mountain, August 2008.
August
Hammock on old deck, August 2003. (Some people have a starter home, we
had a starter deck, which we built in 2003.) Photo
is by David's college roommate, David Reithmiller.
September
Morning fog, August 2008.
October
Fall colors, November 2007.
The tall trees in the background are the edge of our clear-cut. The lower
trees are re-growth since then. They border our septic field.
