Erie Canal Bike Ride, May 2022

The Erie Canalway is an easy bike/hike trail across upstate New York. It combines a number of rails-to-trails, towpaths, and little-used roads to make a complete path from Buffalo to Albany. It is part of the larger Empire State Trail, which combines a number of bicycle routes to cover much of New York state. The excellent, updated guidebook, "Cycling the Erie Canal" by Parks & Trails New York, has everything you need to plan the trip.
